The first lines of defense against human trafficking in massage businesses are the individuals that issue massage establishment permits. And they are supported by a well drafted massage ordinance that provides effective enforcement tools.
Rick McElroy, CAMTC Director of Law & Code Enforcement Relations, and Elaine Ketell, Senior Management Analyst, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, provides training at no cost. This training will provide information to city and county personnel on how to prevent human trafficking in massage. Staff will learn to identify traffickers, and thereby to cut spending for investigative hours, all while using existing resources.
Beverly May, CAMTC Director of Governmental Affairs and Human Trafficking, will provide specific verbiage within local massage ordinances in the State of California at no cost. She has had success in closing the traffickers’ revolving door.
