2022.08.08 MONKEYPOX UPDATE
Dear CAMTC Certificate Holders:
CAMTC is and has been closely monitoring the monkeypox situation in California. We take the current outbreak very seriously and understand that the State has declared monkeypox to be a public health emergency. We have well established open lines of communication with State and local health officers and are regularly checking in with these professionals. We are also pleased to announce that CAMTC has a public health advisor, Dr. Jeffrey Klausner, Clinical Professor of Population and Public Health Sciences at Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC).

As the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) notes, “The risk of monkeypox to the public is currently very low based on the information available.”
As a CAMTC Certified Massage Professional, you are strongly encouraged to continue to follow your normal, everyday, health and safety protocols, which you should already be doing regardless of the monkeypox outbreak. These protocols should include, but are not limited to, the following:
For information on the availability of vaccines for monkeypox, please check with your local city or county health department. Cities and counties have very specific requirements to qualify for the monkeypox vaccination.
